Douglas Quackenbos

Douglas Quackenbos is a Lecturer in Marketing at the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina, where he teaches B2B Marketing, Strategy, Sales and Global Marketing to upper level undergraduate and MBA students. Prior to joining the UofSC in 2016, he had a 27 year corporate career – including over a decade of international assignments in Europe and Latin America – leading multinational organizations in global business development initiatives.

Douglas has co-authored several case studies published by IMD, including the 2020 award winning SAM 100: Will Construction Robotics Disrupt the US Bricklaying Industry? as well as the 2018 case study Sales Process Reengineering at Robin. He is also a co-author of the 2016 hbr.org article Does Your Company Have What it Takes to Go Abroad?

Professional career highlights include: launching the DeWalt brand of Power Tools into Latin America and Italy; tripling revenue over a five year period as Head of Marketing for Hilti Spain; implementing a multiple country product harmonization and SKU-reduction plan as Director of Marketing, Southern Europe for Newell Rubbermaid’s Home Décor Division; innovative, sustainable product development as Business Development Manager for Cascades-Sonoco (a Canadian-American JV); and global strategy development as Head of Global Business Development for Walter Meier Manufacturing (now JPW).

Quackenbos is also the faculty advisor of the AMA (American Marketing Association) at the Darla Moore School of Business and collaborates on B2B marketing-oriented executive education programs as well as consulting projects.

He is fluent in Spanish, Italian and French, and earned his International MBA at the University of South Carolina and a B.A. in Foreign Languages from Stetson University.
