New 3+3 StratSim Scenario
An Alternative Scenario option
AVAILABLE FOR FALL 2024
StratSim 3+3 scenario webinar recap:
For many years, instructors have chosen between two starting options for StratSim: Even Start and Unique Start. Now we’re offering a third starting option: 3+3. It offers two sets of 3 equal firms in terms of their financial position, resources, and opportunity.
We hosted a webinar focused on the 3+3 scenario, here’s a quick summary of the key points discussed, with more detailed information available below and in the webinar recording.
Key Highlights:
Significant differences from previous scenarios: 3+3 scenario divides firms into three value-oriented high-volume producers and three high-end low-volume manufacturers (other team configurations are possible as well).
Alternative Energy Vehicles (AEVs): AEVs now have a bigger role in the simulation. The big difference is that AEVs are a secondary preference for about half of the customers, and growth of demand for the class is greater than in the traditional scenarios.
Distribution strategies: The new distribution setup requires more intricate decision-making. Firms start with fewer dealerships and must carefully plan regional expansions, making distribution a more demanding and strategic aspect of the simulation.
For more detailed information about the 3+3 scenario, including new vehicle classes, updated consumer segments, and more, please scroll down or watch the full webinar recording. Please login with your Faculty Access to watch the webinar and explore our new 3+3 sample course site!

Updated consumer segments with different needs
Challenging economic conditions
THE 3+3 SCENARIO ALLOWS YOU TO:
Rotate scenarios
Alternate simulations between terms without students being able to easily share prior terms’ successful approaches.
Updated conditions
Include updated vehicle classes, technology shifts, and economic conditions reflecting today’s auto industry
Focus on Distribution
Increase the role of distribution/regional decisions in strategic planning
Grading flexibility
Ensure grades are fair by comparing within the groups of 3 equal start firms
Flexible team configurations in 3+3 Scenario
-
6 teams, with 3 on the low end (A, B, C) and 3 on the high end (D, E, F). Compare directly teams in the same starting positions.
-
4 teams, with two on the low end (A and B), two on the high end (D and E), and two not played (C and F). Compare directly A+B or D+E.
-
3 teams where the 3 firms played are either on the low end (A, B, C) or all on the high end (D, E, F).
